Duerboslar Castle in Aldenhoven

The late medieval Duerboslar castle is located about 2 km northwest of Aldenhoven in the town of Duerboslar, having the same name. The castle is a former moated castle. Already in 1478 it was mentioned in a document yet there are indications that the castle already existed in 898. In the 16th and 17th century the castle was rebuilt using bricks and also a three winged outer bailey was constructed. In 1620 the tower, located at the northwesterly corner, was erected and in 1841 the estate manor. In the year 1852 a complete new building was constructed.

Damages at the Duerboslar castle, due to its age, were repaired in the 1980th, as a part of the monument preservation measure. The largest part of the castle facilities are nowadays agriculturally used and it the outer bailey you find the workshops of the ARW Modellbau GmbH.
